SALUTATIONS TO RESPECTED K. C. SULEKH JI
We deeply mourn the passing of the great Ambedkarite thinker, writer, and Buddhist social reformer Shri K. C. Sulekh ji, who bid farewell to this world at the age of nearly 99.
Throughout his long and inspiring life, Sulekh ji remained completely devoted to carrying forward Babasaheb Dr B. R. Ambedkar’s immortal call — Educate, Agitate, Organise.
As the former General Secretary of the Scheduled Castes Federation (Punjab), he stood at the forefront of the struggle for social justice, education, and equality.
A true Ambedkarite and a profound Buddhist thinker, he founded the Urdu weekly “Ujala”, which became a beacon of social awareness and a strong vehicle for spreading Ambedkarite thought among the people.
He belonged to that rare generation who had the honour of working with Babasaheb Dr Ambedkar and seeing him closely — an experience few in history can claim.
During the early days of the COVID years, 'Global Ambedkarites' had the privilege of hosting him in our live online programme “Memories with Babasaheb” on 17 May 2020.
In that heartfelt conversation, he shared his precious memories of his time with Babasaheb — recollections so vivid and full of humility that they continue to move us even today.
Sulekh ji’s life was a shining example of struggle, simplicity, and compassion.
He lived not for himself, but for the upliftment and dignity of all. His work and words continue to illuminate the path for those who strive to build an equal and humane society — the society Babasaheb dreamed of.
May his journey inspire us to keep his flame alive in our own actions.
